Good afternoon everyone!

 

Today was the final day of English for the first term and 年長 have dazzled me with their vocabulary retention! In July we`ve been learning about summer activities we can enjoy and we had fun singing about them in our new monthly song. Everyone is now more familiar with the verbs `swim`, `bike`, `surf`, `hike`, `read`, `camp`, `play` and `dance`. I`m sure many of these activities will be popular with our friends whether we are inside or outside (when it`s not too hot)! In our final lesson I read a book called `The Watermelon Seed`. I took great pleasure in seeing everyone`s positive reaction to this fun book that plays on a small childhood fear – enjoy all the watermelon you can this season!

 

The first term has come to an end and I have been impressed with the attitude 年長 have shown throughout these past 3 months. They have sung and danced so well each week and tried their hardest with everything I have asked of them. I couldn`t ask for more as the new English teacher at Johoku. I already can`t wait for the second term to begin!

皆さん、こんにちは！

今日は1学期最後の英語レッスンでした。年長クラスのみんなの単語を覚える力には、本当に驚かされました！

 

7月は「夏のアクティビティ」をテーマに学習し、今月の歌を通して楽しく英語に親しみました。みんなは swim（泳ぐ）、bike（自転車に乗る）、surf（サーフィンをする）、hike（ハイキングをする）、read（本を読む）、camp（キャンプをする）、play（遊ぶ）、dance（踊る） といった動詞を覚え、自信を持って言えるようになりました。暑すぎない日には、外でも中でも、たくさん楽しめる活動ばかりですね！

 

最後のレッスンでは、『The Watermelon Seed』という絵本を読みました。子どもの頃に誰もが少しは考えたことのある「スイカの種を飲み込んだらどうなるの？」という不安をテーマにした、楽しいお話です。みんなが笑ったり驚いたりしながら夢中になって聞いてくれる姿を見ることができ、とても嬉しかったです。今年の夏は、ぜひスイカをたくさん楽しんでくださいね！

 

1学期が終わりましたが、この3か月間、年長クラスのみんなが見せてくれた前向きな姿勢には本当に感心しました。毎週元気いっぱいに歌い、踊り、どんな活動にも一生懸命取り組んでくれました。JOHOKUこどもアカデミーの新しい英語教師として、これ以上望むことはありません。私も今から2学期が始まるのをとても楽しみにしています！
